Our private bankers specialise in looking after clients from different walks of life, such as professionals, entrepreneurs, corporate or city executives, enabling them to build a clear understanding and develop expertise in the specific, often unique, financial needs associated with a particular lifestyle.

Other areas of private banker expertise include looking after international clients, perhaps resident in the UK or just frequent visitors; clients with substantial interest in land and property; people from the worlds of sport and entertainment and clients who are already retired or approaching retirement.

Commercial Banking

Coutts is widely recognised in the UK as a leading private bank, but we also have a vibrant and diverse commercial banking business.

With an emphasis on service coupled with high levels of sector and technical knowledge our commercial bankers are highly regarded, and with a policy of promoting from within wherever possible, prospects for career development is strong.

New recruits can look forward to the opportunity of having early client contact working in a support capacity to an experienced commercial banker gaining valuable on the job experience. This is coupled with a structured training programme including sponsorship of external qualifications to support individual professional development.

Our business customers are as varied as our private clients ranging from education, property, and healthcare through to music, television, and film. The kind of people that we are looking for will have a real passion for customer service, and an interest in businesses and how they operate.
 
Wealth Investment Management

Wealth Investment Management London provides investment services to the private banking clients of Coutts, NatWest and RBS in the UK, which makes us one of the largest private client investment managers in the UK.  Our investment strategy, product development and tailored portfolio service teams also have a global reach, supporting the RBS Coutts brand around the world in addition to the UK.

Our range of services includes discretionary and advisory management of client portfolios in line with house views on global markets and asset classes, utilising a combination of in-house long only and hedge fund programmes, third party funds and direct investment. In addition we offer an execution-only dealing service in global equities and fixed income instruments.  The product development team also supports the launch of new investment products for sale on a standalone basis by private bankers, as well as for inclusion within managed portfolios. 

Roles in Wealth Investment Management include investment strategy, equity/market research, portfolio management, performance measurement, dealing, product development, private banker/client support, risk and business management.

Coutts 24

To complement the relationship management role that private bankers and their assistants perform, Coutts24 is a service available for all private clients providing 24/7 access by telephone and internet to all their banking and credit card needs.

For Coutts24 to be a preferred option as an alternative contact point for clients, all the staff have existing experience of banking and superb client service skills.  The service is highly rated by clients who have come to rely upon and enjoy the ease and convenience of this "one stop shop" where they can undertake all their day to day banking.

The roles in Coutts24 are extremely broad ranging as clients expect whoever they speak to, to be able to answer their questions or take their instructions on the complete range of banking activities.  Consequently, everyone joining Coutts24 has already gained experience of banking and needs to demonstrate the full array of skills and behaviours at the assessment centres.

The nature of the range of enquiries directed at Coutts24 means that the roles bring staff into contact with most of the bank's processes.  Consequently, as well as being able to progress within Coutts24 into appointed non-supervisory roles through the development of technical skills, progression is also possible into other parts of the bank.

Marketing

Coutts Marketing & Business Development comprises brand communications, PR, events & sponsorship, direct marketing, product marketing, strategic marketing, business development, and family business & strategic philanthropy. There are 75 people in the team and it is a lively area of passionate and energetic individuals from a variety of different backgrounds and experiences. We look to employ like-minded people who are enthusiastic about our brand values and want to achieve our corporate goals.

The marketing department takes great pride in delivering an unsurpassed service for our clients and this is embedded in our marketing ethos. The Brand team is responsible for looking at innovative and surprising ways of communicating our brand whilst. Corporate Marketing is our communications arm that deals with PR, Sponsorship and Events, Direct Marketing and also our Archivists department.

Our Product Development & Marketing team covers banking and investments and has specialists in areas from cards and mortgages to hedge funds. They advise our private bankers and develop products for our clients.

Strategic Marketing works on our client propositions and conducts research into potential areas for growth. The team project manages new initiatives from inception to implementation.

Business Development handles queries from potential clients, leads from introducers, supports our offices in developing new client relationships and works closely with our private bankers.

Finally, Family Business & Strategic Philanthropy provides a unique service to our clients. The Family Business team facilitates discussions with family business owners in areas such as succession planning, family governance, handling family disputes, and family business best practice. The Strategic Philanthropy team advises our clients on developing a giving strategy and how to measure its success.
