Financial Planning Specialist, Bristol.
What does your job involve?
Most days I spend the majority of my time going out with Private Bankers to see clients. My role is to provide specialist support to the Private Bankers in a number of areas such as tax, pensions and estates. I am also involved in providing specialist training in these areas to the Private Bankers.
I have been working in the Bristol office of Coutts for the last 2 years. I initially joined as a Private Banker but moved into a Financial Specialist Role after 6 months because I feel that my skill set is better suited to the role, Now I really enjoy my role as a Financial Planning Specialist and I cover the Bristol, Bath and Cardiff area.
What do you like most about working for Coutts?
Working for Coutts gives me a real sense of satisfaction because I have the ability to offer tailored solutions to our clients and to really make a difference to the offering we provide our clients. My role is very sociable, and I am an integral part of my team. I travel to London 2 or 3 times a month which is always a good opportunity to catch up with colleagues and clients working there. I really enjoy meeting clients and find that the majority of them are well grounded in their approach despite being so successful.
A funny example that shows how relaxed my clients are with me happened a few weeks ago. I was having a long telephone discussion with a client in which I was providing advise on a financial strategy. Suddenly the client had to go very quickly and has she hung up she said “ok then, love you loads” forgetting she was talking to her Financial Planner! Needless to say, my client was very embarrassed but I was able to see the funny side and reassure her it was not a big issue.
