What activities does your job involve?
There are 7 people in the legal team which is split into specific roles and departments. We cover the head office functions here in Zurich, but also the regional locations throughout Switzerland, and in Asia.
Private Banking is a broad area, and we are involved in a range of activities including client complaints, inheritance claims, account opening, and special projects. We are able to give support and advice to Private Bankers and sometimes go along to support them in client meetings. We also get involved in litigation cases related to Private Bankers.
What is a typical day like in your office?
There is no such thing as a typical day! I often go to work with expectations of what my day will involve, and by the evening, I am involved in something completely new. For example, a couple of weeks ago I was visited by the Federal Police as part of an investigation they were conducting, and I spent all day assisting them with their investigation.
As well as dealing with ad hoc queries, I also work on a number of different projects, which means I am often attending meetings and tele conferences with my colleagues in RBS Group in London and Edinburgh.
What do you like most about working for Coutts?
The best thing about working here is the team atmosphere – everyone works really hard, but people are good at supporting and helping each other. I have a very supportive boss and enjoy the fact that I have contact with lots of different departments throughout CBvE and RBS. Having worked at Coutts for over 5 years, I have built up strong relationships with the Private Bankers.
I like the fact that everyday in my job is a new challenge. Working with colleagues in different countries that have different levels of regulation means I am continuously facing new challenges. I am working on a number of different projects in different countries which means I have to keep up to date with changing legislation.
