Have you always worked in Risk?

I initially did my law degree in Australia, but since starting work I have focussed over the last 12 years on compliance in different organisations around the world. I spent 5 years in Australia working for the Australian regulator and then primarily in Investment and Private Banking, before spending 2 years in Singapore and, 3 years in Luxembourg working again in Private and Investment Banking. I have now been working in Regulatory Risk (compliance) with Coutts in Switzerland for 18 months.

What does your team do?

There are 15 people in the Regulatory Risk team spread across 3 different locations; Switzerland, Singapore and Hong Kong. Our primary responsibility is to deal with queries that come in from Private Bankers across our different jurisdictions. These queries can be diverse, and there are times when members of my team are asked to attend client meetings.

The team also has a number of other responsibilities including managing the representative offices across the world in Montevideo, Marbella and Tokyo, responding to individual business queries, and also working with Outside Fund Managers to support their activities.
