Work Based Learning
What works for some people, doesn't necessarily work for others, so we've created a range of development options and tools that allow you to choose the ways in which you learn best. We are committed to providing personally tailored training to every one of our employees.
Access2Learning (A2L) is the Group's online learning portal, providing employees with access to their training and personal learning information.
A2L gives those within the Group access to learning that supports their technical, personal and professional development. It also allows employees to choose how they learn, what they learn and where they learn it from. Some of the options include web based and distance training courses, access to workshops and classes, books, videos and CD ROMS.
Group Education Sponsorship Policy
We provide financial assistance to staff undertaking professional or vocational qualifications when the qualifications provide a clear business benefit and ensure an improved level of individual performance.
The Group may offer sponsorship to those staff meeting the criteria for MBA programmes. Decisions to offer sponsorship are held at Managing Director level within the business.
Every employee at The Royal Bank of Scotland Group should have at least one formal review during the year. During this review, you will discuss and agree your objectives for the year, and identify the tools and processes that will help you to achieve these objectives. During the year your performance should be developed and measured against these objectives. Not only does this give you a clear idea of what you should be striving for, but it allows both of us to easily measure your performance.
Professional Development website
Our Professional Development website will give you educational guidance and support for all aspects of life long learning and the developmental aspects of Corporate Citizenship. The Professional Development team looks after the Group Education Sponsorship Policy, Investors in People, Community Learning - including The Prince's Trust and Face to Face with Finance - and other regulatory requirements.
Bespoke Education Programmes include a Diploma in Customer Relationship Management and an Applied Diploma in Corporate Banking.
Business managers will consider secondments for individuals wishing to develop their careers within the Group - particularly in cases where exposure to new environments, cultures and situations will have a great benefit on our business, your career and your personal development.
The Royal Bank of Scotland Group is willing - when appropriate - to support the achievement of Vocational Qualifications (VQs). VQs will provide you with training to the highest sector requirements, and equip you with the skills, knowledge and understanding to deliver new services across new channels.
